Ways To Insulate Your Home

There are many ways to insulate your home and reduce your energy consumption and your heating bills.

Below are some ways to insulate your home

1- Shine on with energy efficient light bulbs: These are the quickest and easiest way to start reducing your electricity bills.

2- Insulate your roof: Insulating your roof is usually less than a day's work. You'll feel the benefits immediately.

3- Weather sealing: Install rubber weather sealing strips along the edges of windows. These strips are inexpensive and are found in a wide variety of stores.

4- If you have a basement then the underneath of your floor should be insulated to keep any moisture, cold air from coming up through your floor boards. Usually rolled insulation is used and it is kept in place by wire supports placed between the joists.

5- The newer your home the more it is likely that you have it insulated fairly well. You just have to do yearly checks to make sure your caulking is still in good condition and nothing has disturbed any insulation that you have installed already.

6- Energy-efficient glazing-double glazing, triple glazing- keeps your home warmer and quieter as well as reducing your energy bills.

7- Cavity wall insulation: In most houses the outside walls consist of two layers with a gap between them. By filling this gap with insulating material you can significantly reduce the energy lost through the walls and reduce your heating bill. It also helps keep your house cooler during the summer.

8- Loft insulation is easy to install - you can even do it yourself. If you already have loft insulation, check how thick it is. Adding another layer to bring it up to the recommended 270 millimetres will save both energy and money being wasted.

I am participating in a blogger campaign by Bucks2Blog for Continuous Insulation and was compensated. However, the views and opinions are my

own.
